Visiting the website

We do not use advertising trackers, and fonts and pictures are served from our own site. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits and see how fast pages load. Where enabled, its JavaScript beacon collects measurements and may store or access information on your device; this would be for site statistics, not advertising. Our hosting provider processes normal request details, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the website. Short rate limits use your IP address for a moment to slow down spam and abuse; we do not save it.

Sending an enquiry

When you send the contact form we receive your name, email address, the service you chose and your message. They are emailed to communication@marvelsolutionz.com so we can reply. The website does not save enquiries in a database; they stay in our mailbox for as long as we need them for your enquiry and any work that follows.

Booking and paying for a consultancy slot

The booking form sends your name, email address, the date you want, the topic and, if you add them, your vessel, plant or company and your notes to our payment processor, to open your secure payment page; they stay with that payment record. While you are on the payment page (about 30 minutes) the date is held for you. Once the payment is confirmed we email you a confirmation with your invoice from noreply@marvelsolutionz.com, and the same details reach our team by email. The website keeps only the booked date with a payment reference, so the date shows as taken; no name or email is stored with it. The date is removed when it has passed or the booking is cancelled. We never see or store your card details.

Buying an Academy course

The enrolment form asks for your name (printed on your certificate), email address, course tier and, if you wish, your rank or role and your vessel, plant or company. We send these to our payment processor to open your secure payment page. Your rank and company stay with the payment record there; we do not copy them into your student account. We never see or store your card details.

Once the payment is confirmed we create your student account (name, email address, tier, dates) and keep a purchase record (payment reference, date, tier and whether your Access Key email was delivered). If a payment is refunded or disputed, we record that and put the account on hold.

Access Keys and the Student Portal

Your Access Key is emailed to you from communication@marvelsolutionz.com through our email delivery provider, and shown on screen after payment. We store only a one-way hash of the key, never the key itself.

We keep your course progress: modules and labs completed, quiz attempts and your certificate number. After 5 wrong sign-in attempts the account is locked for 15 minutes; for this we briefly keep your email address with a one-way hash of your IP address, cleared after a successful sign-in.

Cookies and storage

On production HTTPS, the Academy cookies are __Host-msz_student (Student Portal sign-in, 30 days), __Host-msz_media (gated lesson videos and captions, 30 days) and __Host-msz_trial (a random token used to prevent resetting the 5-minute free simulator trial, 7 days). All three are HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict and Path=/. The sign-in and media cookies are removed when you sign out.

Your browser separately keeps a random device number (msz_academy_device_id) in localStorage, not a cookie. We store a one-way hash of that number and your browser type so an Access Key works on at most two devices. These provide Academy sign-in, media access and the trial limit, not advertising or cross-site tracking. If we add non-essential analytics, a pixel, an embedded video or map, or another third-party script, we will first add a consent step and update this list.

The free simulator trial

To prevent the 5-minute trial being reset by clearing browser storage, we store one-way hashes of your IP address and the random trial token, with the start and end time. We keep these trial records for 7 days after the trial ends; expired records are deleted when the trial store is next loaded or written.

Comments from signed-in members

When you send a comment from the “Academy member & client comments” box we receive your message and subject, your name, email address, role, tier and company as held on your account, the page you were on and your screen size. It is emailed to our instructor team and kept in the instructor inbox until it is dealt with; the inbox keeps the latest 150 comments.

Corporate team seats

A Corporate buyer can invite up to 9 colleagues by giving their name and email address. We create a seat account for each person and email them their own Access Key; the email names the buyer who invited them. The buyer’s company is copied to the seat account.

SeaReady included with a course

We do not send your details to SeaReady. seaready.net checks the Academy payment with the same payment processor and keeps a one-way hash of your email address, so it can add the included plan when you sign in there with that address. SeaReady (seaready.net/privacy (opens in a new tab)) has its own privacy policy.

Emails we send and receive

Student emails (Access Keys, seat invitations, payment received) come from communication@marvelsolutionz.com; consultancy booking confirmations come from noreply@marvelsolutionz.com. Payment confirmations include your invoice as a PDF attachment, and our team receives a copy of each one. We receive internal notices about enquiries, bookings, purchases, refunds, disputes and comments; these never contain your Access Key.

Who can see your information

Marvel Solutionz staff, instructors and administrators. The instructor console shows a student’s name, email address, company, role, tier, progress and account status; it never shows Access Keys. Our hosting provider, email delivery provider and payment processor handle information only to run their part of the service. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Enquiry and booking emails: as long as needed for your enquiry and any work that follows. Booked dates: until the date has passed. Sign-in sessions: 30 days. Trial records: 7 days after the trial ends. Student accounts and purchase records, including refunded or disputed ones: while you have course access and afterwards as our record of the sale (for tax, refund and dispute questions), unless you ask us to delete them and we are not required to keep them.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it or object to how we use it. Email communication@marvelsolutionz.com; we reply within 30 days. We may need to keep payment records that the law requires. If you are in the UK or the EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

When what the website does changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
